The Take Note! Music House is a house concert venue near downtown Barrie, ON (after operating for several years in Orillia), presenting acoustic roots music of many varieties – music we really like and are excited to share with our friends and community.
If you've never been to a house concert before, it's a great way to get to know a musician, as well as your neighbours! We usually have the artist play a set, then gather in the kitchen for pot-luck snacks before set two, and then usually end up chatting and eating again until we kick everyone out! ☺
Our concerts are SOCAN-licensed (thus allowing our artists and their writers to generate more income via royalties – YAY SOCAN ROYALTIES!!!). Other than a small percentage to cover the licensing fee, we receive nothing, zero, zip, nada from your donation to the artist, nor any of the artists' merchandise sales. This is a labour of love, to help support some of our musical friends and introduce our community to the music we love.
